My Accidental Trip to Abaca Imports

Hello everyone!

While on vacation in Washington, DC I was invited by my partner in love to go see his show Bessie's Blues at Metro Stage. I arrived early to the theatre but next door to the theatre was a place where I could not only kill some time but discover a new place to shop. I walked into this unknown store called Abaca Imports and was totally in love. I noticed it first when I got out of the cab but it was dark out and I couldn't really make out what this place was. Not to mention I was in an unknown part of town that I've never visited before and the store was in a residential neighborhood and not a furniture district. Before stepping into the theatre I decided to just walk on in the store after seeing all the lovely patio future outside.  It was about 7:10p and the show started at 8p I was early anyhow and this would be a perfect time to take a look at this place before it closed.

I walked into the store and again I was stunned at the lightness and texture of just everything!!! The two gentleman offered me something to drink...a glass of white, red wine, bottled water and so forth. At first I said no thank you than by the time the second guy asked me I said what they hey sure thing. I told him to surprise me and that's exactly what he did as he handed me a glass of red wine. Such a perfect way to get my evening started before the show and it didn't hurt with all this fine eye candy decor all over the place.

Abaca Imports has everything from outdoor patio furniture to earrings and scarfs. One of the pieces that I loved was the fireplace which you don't see much here in America. The glass fireplace was a great conversation piece which can be used indoors or outdoors. As the moments went by the flames grew taller and taller and how mesmerizing it was to watch.

I have always loved to decorate with Chinese art and designs in the past. I still have parts of that Asian culture decorated throughout my home. I didn't have much time to enjoy every little detail of everything they sold but I must say that what I did see what very impress with. Check out some of the photos I took while browsing and admiring. I'll be sure to come shop there the next time I'm in Alexandra, Virginia.
